The first seats to the HFX Wanderers first ever season in the Canadian Premier League have been snapped up by avid fan James Covey.
Covey got the pick of available season seats Thursday, Nov. 1, after becoming the first supporter to sign up as a club member in May.
He has now made Wanderers team history as the first fan to book his seats for the inaugural CPL season.
“It’s a moment,” Covey smiled. “I felt incredibly honoured to be member number one and I feel that way again.”
He stopped by the club’s offices in downtown Halifax to receive congratulations from HFX Wanderers FC Founder and President Derek Martin.
The club is now beginning to contact all other signed up members to give them the chance to reserve their season seats for the 2019 campaign.
Covey’s proud to have got his wish of securing prime seats behind one of the goals in section 109 at the Wanderers Grounds .
That’s in the east end section of the stadium expected to be one of the most popular with fans. It’s already been named “The Kitchen”.
The nickname comes from fans who are promising the feel of a rocking Nova Scotia kitchen party atmosphere at the Wanderers home games.
The new seven team CPL is expected to begin play in the spring of 2019 with Covey now counting down the days to the big kick-off.
Having grown up in the area, he has dreamed of Halifax getting it’s own professional soccer team.
“It’s really amazing to be thinking about having a top tier local club and being able to go to the grounds and see our own club week after week,” Covey said.
If you want to reserve season tickets, the first step is becoming a Wanderers member by clicking the “Become a Member” link at the top of this page.
If you’re already an HFX Wanderers FC member, we’ll be contacting you by email to let you know when you can secure your season tickets.
Because of the number of members we have, we are working through them in the order that people signed up.
So watch out for that email and afterwards you can expect a call from Danae or another of our staff members to book your seats. Go Wanderers!
