Wanderers name Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé and Dan Nimick assistant captains for 2024

The Halifax Wanderers have named midfielder Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé and defender Dan Nimick as assistant captains for 2024 in support of club captain Andre Rampersad.

“These players are model professionals on and off the pitch with a desire to win and compete every day,” Wanderers head coach Patrice Gheisar said. “They also have a great connection to the club and the city, with all three having already played here.”

Rampersad is in his fifth season as the Wanderers captain after taking the armband full-time ahead of the 2020 CPL season. He is the club’s all-time appearance leader, having played in 120 matches for the Wanderers since the club’s first season in 2019.

“Having been here a while, I take pride in doing my job as best as I can for the city of Halifax and the people that come out to support us,” Rampersad said.

Gagnon-Laparé is playing his third season as a Wanderer and brings a wealth of experience. The 29-year-old midfielder is playing in his 11th season as a professional.

“Jérémy has made a huge impact in the change room, and his experience offers guidance to our young players,” Gheisar said.

Nimick is into his second season in Halifax after a standout 2023 where the centre-back scored six goals and contributed three assists. The 2023 was known for his leadership qualities when he signed in Halifax, having worn the captain’s armband at all of his previous clubs.

“I thought Dan showed great leadership last year and is a top player for us, so I think it’s a great choice,” Rampersad said.

The Wanderers host Atlético Ottawa on Saturday night in the club’s home opener. Limited tickets are available by clicking here.
