HFX Wanderers will host a watch party at the team’s Wanderers Grounds home for what will be one of the biggest matches in the club’s history against Cavalry FC tomorrow, September 12.
The club will be showing the Canadian Premier League Group Stage Island Games match from a big screen, to give fans a chance to get together for the occasion.
No spectators have been allowed at the matches in Charlottetown, PEI which are being held behind closed doors, for the safety of players, staff and officials.
The Wanderers Grounds watch party will meet strict public health guidelines, with the capacity limited due to Covid-19 protocols and fans separated into eight person bubbles on the field.
All people will be required to wear non-medical masks as they enter the stadium, in addition to maintaining safe physical distancing.
Fans may remove their masks only when they take a seat in their assigned bubble.
“Nova Scotians have worked very hard to keep our COVID numbers low so we thank everyone for giving us this opportunity to bring our fans together safely to celebrate the success of our Wanderers and hopefully cheer loud enough for the team to hear us over on PEI,” said Wanderers Founder and President Derek Martin.
Head coach Stephen Hart said news of the event will give an extra boost to the team’s players.
“We appreciate all the support our fans give us and to find out they will be gathered at our home stadium for our match is fantastic and a great initiative by the club,” he said.
All tickets will be digital and scanned hands-free at the stadium.
The Wanderers Grounds Gates will open at 3 p.m. AT for the match against Cavalry which kicks off at 4 p.m.
Tables or pods for the event may be purchased in groups of eight. They can be booked through the club at marvin.okello@hfxwanderersfc.ca
