2025 TELUS Canadian Championship preliminary round schedule announced
Canadian Premier League

On Tuesday, Canada Soccer announced the schedule for the seven preliminary round matches which kick off the 2025 Canadian Championship. All matches will be available to watch on OneSoccer.

The Halifax Wanderers visit Forge FC on Wednesday, May 7 (8 p.m. AT) in the club’s preliminary round match.

All preliminary round ties are single elimination, with the host determined by the higher-ranked team based on Canada Soccer’s club ranking index.

The 2025 Canadian Championship kicks off in the nation’s capital on Tuesday, Apr. 29, with Atlético Ottawa hosting League1 Ontario champions, and Canadian Championship debutants, Scrosoppi FC at TD Place Stadium.

A day later, Toronto FC (eight-time champs) face CF Montréal (five-time winners) with one of the two tournament favourites facing early elimination. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner between the Wanderers and Forge FC.

The following week, on Tuesday, May 6 the competition heats up with a trio of matches. It starts at York Lions Stadium, where York United host League1 Québec champs FC Laval. Then, the action moves to western Canada for a pair of inter-provincial matches, with CPL champions Cavalry FC hosting the first-ever League1 Alberta entrant, Edmonton Scottish, before Pacific play host to rivals Vancouver FC.

Preliminary round action concludes on Wednesday, May 7, with a pair of matches, including the Wanderers vs. Forge FC. The final fixture of the round takes place in the prairies, where Valour FC look for revenge against League1 BC champions TSS Rovers — who famously defeated them in the 2023 edition. The winner of that match will advance to face the Vancouver Whitecaps, who as defending champions were given a bye to the quarter-final stage.

Below is the full schedule for the Canadian Championship preliminary round. The seven preliminary-round winners advance to the quarter-final round, to be contested as a two-match home and away series currently scheduled for May and July.
