Andre Rampersad called up by Trinidad and Tobago for crucial match vs. Canada

Halifax Wanderers captain Andre Rampersad has been selected by the Trinidad and Tobago national team for next week’s CONCACAF Nations League Play-In match against Canada.

This crucial match takes place on Saturday, March 23, in Frisco, Texas. The winner will qualify for the 2024 Copa América this summer. Either Trinidad and Tobago or Canada will join Argentina, Chile and Peru in Group A of the competition.

Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and the United States have already locked up four of the six available CONCACAF spots in the Copa América. The final place will be granted to the winner of an additional play-in match on March 23 between Honduras and Costa Rica.

Rampersad, 29, is the Wanderers’ all-time leader in appearances, having played in 117 matches for Halifax. He made his international debut on March 24, 2023 against the Bahamas. He scored his first goal for his country during the 2023 Gold Cup in a match against Jamaica.

Wanderers forward Ryan Telfer was unavailable for selection as he recovers from a short-term injury.
