Halifax Wanderers Football Club Sign Canadian Forward Mamadi Camara

The Halifax Wanderers are pleased to announce the signing of Guinean-Canadian striker Mamadi Camara.

Camara, 26, joins on a short-term contract until the end of the 2021 season with a Club Option for 2022.

Among a number of players the Wanderers have tracked for the last few seasons, Camara, a Montreal native, has had a fantastic 2021 season in PLSQ, scoring 11 goals in his past 8 games with Celtix Du Haut-Richelieu.

“We felt we needed to add another attacking option as we head into the second half of the season,” said Head Coach Stephen Hart. “Mamadi is a player we’ve been aware of for a number of years. He has been in good form recently and someone we felt could contribute immediately to the squad in the final third of the pitch.”

Camara is a former Simon Fraser University team-mate of Wanderers midfielder Marcello Polisi, where he scored 29 goals in 69 appearances. He was also named the GNAC first team all-star in each of his 4 seasons (2015-2018) before being named GNAC player of the year in his final year. In 2019, Camara was selected 46th overall by San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS draft before spending the abbreviated 2020 season at USL club Colorado Switchbacks.
