Tavio Ciccarelli selected by Canada for U-20 Concacaf Championship

Halifax Wanderers forward Tavio Ciccarelli has been called up the the Canadian Men’s U-20 National Team for the upcoming 2024 U-20 Concacaf Championship.

Canada have been drawn in Group B and will face Honduras on 20 July, last year’s tournament runners-up Dominican Republic on 23 July and El Salvador on 26 July.

“We’re heading into this tournament fully aware of the challenge it has been for Canada at this age group over the last couple of decades. But there is a belief that the talent in this group will allow us to approach the moment with measured confidence. There has been some positive work being done within the organization to build greater opportunities for our youth system to move forward. This group is completely determined to achieve success and qualify for the World Cup,” said Andrew Olivieri, CANM20 Head Coach and Men’s National Youth Director.

Additionally, former Halifax Wanderers players Ethan Schilte-Brown and Kimani Stewart-Baynes have been selected to the squad.

Following group stage play, the top two teams of each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.

All of Canada’s matches will air exclusively on OneSoccer, available on the fuboTV Canada platform, as a linear channel on Telus’s Optik TV (Channel 980), as well as online at OneSoccer.ca and through the OneSoccer app.
