The Halifax Wanderers have announced the club’s roster and shirt numbers for their 2023 training camp in Halifax and Auburndale, Florida.
The Wanderers currently have the following contracted players attending training camp. Three other players enter camp as Wanderers U SPORTS trialists.
“We are excited to have the group together and begin instilling our culture and playing style right from the start,” Wanderers head coach Patrice Gheisar said. “We want to hit the ground running before we travel to Florida to continue building chemistry and implement our plans in the coming exhibition games.”
Wanderers forward João Morelli remains in Brazil to continue his recovery after undergoing surgery in June 2022. Morelli will not be available for at least the first half of the 2023 CPL season, so is not yet included on the roster or salary cap.
“We’re continuing to support João throughout his recuperation as his long-term health is our number one priority,” Wanderers sporting director Matt Fegan said. ”We’ve built our roster so that we were prepared for this scenario and look forward to the possibility of João rejoining the squad when the time is right.”
In the meantime, Morelli has given midfielder Aidan Daniels permission to change his shirt number from #13 to the #10 worn by Morelli in the 2022 season.
The Wanderers will be training in Halifax until the squad departs for Auburndale, Florida, on March 13 for a series of exhibition matches.
