Wanderers U23 selects squad for upcoming matches in Moncton, Charlottetown and Halifax

Halifax Wanderers U23 head coach Jed Davies has selected his roster for the upcoming International Summer Series taking place in Moncton, NB, Charlottetown, PEI and Halifax, NS, from July 2-8.

The 24-player roster is made up of players developed in Atlantic Canada, along with top AUS talent and some current Wanderers trialists from outside the region. The gameday squads are expected to be supplemented by the Wanderers’ first-team squad members needing extra competitive minutes during the series.

Wanderers U23 is competing in the Atlantic Summer Series against German side Holstein Kiel U23. The three-match series kicks off on Sunday, June 2, in Moncton.

“We’ve continued to grow our Wanderers development plans this year to include regular training sessions for high potential players in Atlantic Canada in and around our first team,” sporting director Matt Fegan said. “This was an important step in integrating these players into the club’s approach with a view to future opportunities at first team level. The Summer Series will be an excellent opportunity for our coaches to evaluate every player in a competitive environment against quality opposition.”

The Wanderers U23 squad is led by Jed Davies, who joined the club this season as a member of Patrice Gheisar’s first-team coaching staff and head of youth development. He will be assisted by Lewis Page, head coach for the University of PEI and Oliver Hewish from Suburban FC’s youth development program.

“I am delighted with the work done to date by these players, and this series will be a just reward for their efforts,” said Davies. “We’re looking forward to welcoming Holstein Kiel and testing these players at a good level.”
