The Halifax Wanderers started the match with a pair of scoring chances but fell 4-0 to Forge FC on Friday night.

Wanderers Man of the Match: Kareem Sow

Making his 2022 debut for the club, Sow didn’t miss a step in the opening minutes of his first CPL action since re-signing with the club in May.

Sow made a pair of crucial interceptions early in the match, going the full 90 minutes.

The 21-year-old centre-back finished the match with three tackles won, two interceptions, and three clearances, with a 95% pass accuracy to lead the Wanderers. He also won five of his six duals.

Tight schedule and injuries bring rotation

With two matches between Friday and Tuesday, the Wanderers made six changes to the starting lineup that drew 2-2 with Cavalry.

The Wanderers were also without Cory Bent and Zachary Fernandez due to minor injuries.

Mohamed Omar made his first CPL start, Kareem Sow made his 2022 debut, and Mour Samb came off the bench in his first appearance as a Wanderer.

Polisi consistent since returning

After injuries delayed his start to the season, Marcello Polisi has since shown the consistent work rate he brings to the Wanderers.

Polisi entered Friday’s match as a second-half substitute. In 45 minutes of work, he completed 91% of his passes.

Since returning to action, the defensive midfielder has been increasing his minutes played in each match.
